- Open Question: How long does it take for a resolved negative mark on my credit report to show?
I recently rehabilitated my defaulted student loan and received documentation that they would notify the national credit bureaus and advise them to remove the default status from my credit report. How long should I wait before checking for it's removal? I'm interested in refinancing my car loan and my student loan was one of the items that was negatively affecting my credit the most. Also, should the removal of my default status result in a noticeable improvement in my credit score? Thank you for any feedback you may have.
- Resolved Question: Is it normal to be credit history ghost?
I received my social security number in June and cannot access my free annual credit report. I was also denied a checking account at a bank. What could be causing this? Is my number so new that I am invisible? I had no problems when I got my driver license, they verified my social there at the dmv office but I am puzzled. Any suggestions?
- Open Question: Card company says 2 "transaction errors" caused returned payments. Chk Acct # was transposed, 30 day report?
No late payments before, anywhere. Got a call that my last two electronic payments were "Returned due to invalid account number" and that the account was closed. This apparently began to occur right after I replaced my lost card in June. I was never contacted until today. Wouldn't you know I'm smack dab in the middle of a morgage app. No kidding. 1. Collections lady said they would gladly reopen the account if I pay to bring it current, then I could talk to Cust Service about a correction letter to the credit agencies. I told her I won't pay anything until that letter is written because I'll lose all leverage. 2. My paper statement that I received shows the payments as OK going back to 6/19, then shows both returned on 7/3. My bank knows nothing of the failed electronic debits. 3. Cust service doesn't want to talk because my account was closed, didn't know who is responsible for reporting to agencies and recommended I write a letter. My question is, can I "pre-file" a dispute with the agencies, using my statement to prove that I made payments online? I could show the checking account funds to prove these were not NSF's. If a 30-day late is in dispute, does that still affect FICO?
- Open Question: i need your advice. I just decided to check my credit score and i see that there is a collection agency?
it shows there is a an outstanding bill for $550 which i didnt know about. I called them up and they told me that it was a hospital bill. I was unaware because i nver recieved a bill. They told me they had the wrong address. The hospital messed up the street number. And until i pay it they will not take it off the credit report. And now it cannot be resolved at the hospital because they bought the account from the hospital. This is really not my fault because i never got a bill from the hospital. What should i do. Any suggestion?
- Open Question: any way to check if someone is using your social security #? Im more concerend with employment than credit.?

- Resolved Question: How can some people be so heartless?
After checking out at the grocery store, I paid with a debit card and placed my wallet in my back pocket. Wasn't till the next morning I realized I didn't have my wallet. Since the grocery was the last stop I made before coming home, I went back there and talked to the manager. She looked at the surveillance and sure enough, I had dropped my wallet. As I put it in my back pocket it fell straight through because I had a rip in the bottom. The lady behind me never said a word, just eyed the wallet until I left and then pushed her buggie over it, bend down, picked up "my" wallet and dropped it in her purse. How cold is that?? To see a wallet lying there, with no one around is one thing, but to see the person drop it and not say anything......well, that is down right dirty. How can some people be so heartless? Then she paid for her groceries with a credit card. Wasn't mine so maybe they can find out who she is, if it wasn't another stolen card. Made a police report, but haven't heard anything since. Thank God I had "no" cash in it.....but I had to go through all the trouble of cancelling debit cards and losing things that were important to me. I'm working outside of my home state and they won't send me a duplicate drivers license to a forwarded address, so I have to lose a day of work to travel back to get a new license. Again I ask....How can some people be so heartless?????
- Resolved Question: will payed bills still effect your credit report?
My husband and i are thinking of buying a home and we are trying to clear his credit,we just finished paying everything we needed to pay, so im wondering, when we go see if we can get approved for a home load, and they check our credit, and they see the collection debts, but they show up as payed, would that effect us negatively ? they told us it would take some time for the debts to disappear from the credit report, but that they will be shown as payed, there's only 3 in total. Should be still see if we can get approved, or is it not even worth it? (10 points best answer) yeah, we paid the complete balance, so should we still try to see if we can get approved? or wait till they disappear?

- Open Question: My cell phone company never contacted me about an overdue payment and now it's on my credit, HELP?
Ok, I had a Verizon account and apparently there was a mishap in the payment of my final bill. I was completely unaware of this until I got an email from the company that I use to monitor my credit. They alerted me to a potentially negative file placed on my credit. I checked it out, and immediately payed it off, same day. This was last month (June) and finally my credit report is showing it as payed. But it is still showing that there was a negative report made. It dropped my score from 706 to 645 (ouch). I'm only 22 and am not very well educated in the credit department. That being said, I still make every payment on time for everything. I'm thinking about buying a house in the very near future, but this is a major setback. What can I do to get my credit score back up? Is there anyone that I can go to/hire to get this removed? **Also, the report shows "Key Derogatory" for June AND July. But I have the receipt saying I payed it off in early June.
- Open Question: Old Debt coming back up... what's up with it?
So back in 2003 i bought a motorcycle. The motorcycle was impounded and i'm assumming the bank got the motorcycle back, i never saw it again. I stopped paying on the bike as soon as it was taken. Debt collectors harrassed the heck out of me and my family. When i changed addresses they finally stopped. I just checked my credit report and it said i now owe a new debt to this debt collection agency that was just opened up in 2008. I thought that statute of limitation would get rid of this by like 2010 since it was originally a debt from 2003, but now i have this fresh new debt as of last year that should actually be from 2003 and the name on the debt shouldn't be this debt collection agency, it should be the bank i had the loan through... why is this like this? won't that extend my statute of limitation? is there anything to do? I live in TX by the way, so i do understand they can't garnish my wages or anything like that, and they haven't summoned me, yet at least. the debt is for almost 20k... what is the reasoning behind them opening this new debt and how can they do that?
